Free Pattern - Classic V-Neck Pullover for Kids
This
is the perfect pattern to use with novelty yarn or to try your hand
at basic color designing. Use one or all the fruit
motifs given in the stitch library to work in either in a row
at the lower edge of the body and sleeves, or in random placement
allover the knitted fabric. Use one, two, or all of them!
Looking for a sweater in adult sizes where to incorporate the same
fruit motifs such as the Classic
Cardigan (work plain pockets with fruits).
Sizes: 2 (4, 6, 8, 10)
Finished Chest Measurements: 25 (27, 29, 31, 33)"
Note: These measurements yield a pretty fitted garment. Select
next size up for a looser fit, but keep same length for sleeves.
Materials: Approximately 8 (9, 12, 14, 15) ounces of worsted-weight
yarn
One pair each size 5 and 7 needles or size to obtain correct gauge
Stitch holders
Gauge: InStockinette stitch, 5 sts = 1"
Ssk: Insert needle in front of first st and in back of next
st and k2 tog.
Back: With smaller needles, CO 59 (63, 69, 73, 79) sts.
Row 1: K1, *p1, k1; rep from * across. Row 2: P1, * k1, p1; rep
from * across. Rep Rows 1 and 2 for 1 1/2 ( 1 1/2, 1 1/2, 2, 2)",
inc 4 sts evenly in last row63 (67, 73, 77, 83) sts. With
larger needles, work in Stockinette stitch until 12 (14, 15 1/2,
17, 18)" from beg, ending after a WS row. Next row, BO 21 (22,
25, 26, 29) sts, work across center 21 (23, 23, 25, 25) sts and
leave on holder for back of neck, BO rem sts.
Front: Work as for Back until 6 1/2 (8, 9, 10, 10 1/2)"
from beg, ending after a WS row.
Neck Shaping: Work across 31 (33, 36, 38, 41) sts, turn leaving
rem sts on holder. Working on this side only, dec 1 st at neck edge
1/3" 10 (11, 11, 12, 12) times21 (22, 25, 26, 29) sts.
Work even until same length as Back to shoulder. BO all sts. To
complete other side, leave center st on holder, and work on remaining
sts to match first side.
Sleeves: With smaller needles, CO 27 (29, 31, 33, 35) sts.
Work in ribbing as for lower Back for 2", inc 8 (12, 14, 18,
20) sts evenly across last row35 (41, 45, 51, 55) sts. With
larger needles, work in Stockinette stitch for rest of sleeve, while
at the same time, inc 1 st each end ever 1/2 (3/4, 3/4, 1, 1, 1)"
10 times55 (61, 65, 71, 75) sts. Work even until 8 1/2 (10
1/2, 11 1/2, 13, 14 1/2)" from beg, or desired total length.
BO all sts.
Finishing:
Neckband: Sew right shoulder seam. With right side facing
and smaller needles, evenly pick up and k 32 (34, 36, 40, 42) sts
on left side of neck, k 1 from holder at center front, pick up and
k 33 (35, 37, 41, 43) sts on right side of neck, k across 21 (23,
23, 25, 25) sts from back holder87 (93, 97, 107, 111) sts.
Work in k1, p1 rib as for lower Back making sure to purl st at center
front (k on right side row).
Next Row: Work in est ribbing to 2 sts before center st,
ssk, k1, k2 tog, complete row. Work wrong side row without decreasing
and keeping sts as established. Repeat these 2 rows until band is
1" wide. BO all sts in ribbing.
Sew side of neckband and left shoulder seam. Measure 6 (6 1/2,
7, 7 1/2, 8)" on each side of shoulder seams and place markers
on armhole edge. Set in sleeves bet markers stretching slightly
to fit. Sew underarm and side seams.
