Mossy Border
This border pattern works great when combined with a Stockinette
stitch background, a subtle texture, or a bobble-strewned
background. The bottom ribbing is designed to allow the next
pattern to flow into it without interruption. You can choose
to work Moss stitch between the arches, or reverse Stockinette
stitch for a more pronounced pattern.
Multiple of 10 sts + 3; rep of 24 rows
Begin by working in rib pattern for desired number of rows
by repeating the following two rows:
Rib Row 1: * K 3, p 2; rep from * k 3.
Rib Row 2: * P 3, k 2; rep from * across, p3. Rep Rib Rows
1 and 2 twice more.

Then, begin working pattern stitch as follows:
Row 1 (RS): K 4, * (p 1, k 1) twice, p 1 **, k 5; rep from * across,
end last rep at **, k4.
Row 2: P 4, * (k 1, p 1) twice, k 1 **, p 5; rep from * across,
end last rep at **, p 4.
Row 3: K 3, * (p1, k1) 3 times, p 1, k 3; rep from * across. Row
4: P 3, * (k 1, p 1) 3 times, k 1, p 3; rep from across.
Rows 5 and 6: Rep Rows 1 and 2.
Rows 7 and 8: Rep Rows 3 and 4.
Rows 9 and 10: Rep Rows 1 and 2.
Row 11: K 2, * yo, ssk, (k1, p1) twice, k 1, k2 tog, yo, k 1; rep
from * across, k 1.
Row 12: P 5, * k 1, p 1, k 1 **, p 7; rep from * across, end last
rep at **, p 5.
Row 13: K 3, * yo, ssk, k 1, p 1, k 1, k2 tog, yo, k 3; rep from
* across.
Row 14: P 6, * k 1, p 9; rep from * across to last 7 sts, k 1, p
6.
Row 15: K 2, * (yo, ssk) twice, k 1, (k2 tog, yo) twice, k 1; rep
from * across, k 1.
Rows 16, 18, 20, and 22: Purl.
Row 17: K 3, * yo, ssk, yo, 2-st dec, yo, k2 tog, yo, k 3; rep from
* across.
Row 19: K 4, * yo, ssk, k 1, k2 tog, yo **, k 5; rep from * across,
end last rep at **, k 4.
Row 21: K 5, * yo, 2-st dec, yo **, k 7; rep from * across, end
last rep at **, k 5.
Row 23: K 6, * MB, k 9; rep from * across to last 7 sts, MB, k 6.
Row 24: Rep Row 16.
