I have another FREE hat pattern posted on the wholesale site (Knit One, Crochet Too) using Paint Box (a rainbow striping yarn "à la Kureyon". Click here to check this one out!

My 18-year old son wanted a new hat. He lost his favorite one (fortunately not one I knit!). I showed him a ball of self-striping sock yarn and he liked it. Now, this son of mine is the snowboarding type. His clothes fit in the "cool" category. So I had to be careful that the hat would fit and look just right. Sorry, I don't have a photo yet. My son whisked the hat away to college before I had a chance to snap him in his
glory. (Turns out now that the hat was lost in a snowbank - never to be seen again!)

CAWABONGA HAT

Fits adult size.

Finished circumference: about 17" (fingering weight yarn knit at the gauge given stretched easily)

Note: Hat fits snuggly around head, just like a young "cool" guy likes!

Next Row: *K1, sl 1, k2tog, psso, k1; rep from * across—12 sts rem.
Break yarn and weave end through rem sts. Pull tightly to close top and sew back seam taking care to reverse your seam for the last 2" of ribbing (this will be turned up to right side when worn).

Voila! One cool dude hat! Hope he takes good care of his new hat! Although I can whip up another one quickly and use only one ball of yarn!
